Dr Katarzyna Borkowska (https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/education/staff/katarzynaborkowska/)is the Primary Investigator for The Equality Project. She is a Lecturer currently based at the University of Glasgow's School of Education.
Dr Kasia Borkowska is passionate about researching global challenges and addressing complex questions such as gender inequality, poverty, and lack of educational and economic opportunities. Her focus is mainly on communities in low and middle-income countries.
She has been involved in a number of international projects and believes that interdisciplinary, collaborative and high-quality research can contribute to developing sustainable social, cultural and economic benefits.
Dr Amina Kamando is a lecturer, currently working at the University of Dar es Salaam, School of Education, Department of Educational Foundations, Management & Lifelong Learning. She holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow.
Amina has a diverse range of practical experience in the field of education, both as a teacher and a researcher. She teaches principles of education, sociology of education and History of Education.
Amina is passionate about researching and working with local/rural communities through community-based research in challenging complex issues related to poverty and lack of education among the rural-poor communities. Her focus is on the links between education and poverty alleviation and the impact on social change. Her areas of interest include community engagement, community development, adult education and lifelong learning, and partnership in education provision.
Dr Nancy Njiraini has close to three decades of experience in training and facilitating having worked in different settings to provide learning for adult learners. Her focus centres around the need for engagements that encourage transformative learning through critical reflection and the value of lifelong learning perspective. She has participated in various research and learning projects in the UK and East Africa. Nancy’s continuing research interests are in lifelong learning in its various forms, critical thinking and connections between learning and social output that can impact social change.
With a background in rhetorical studies, Dr. Lavinia Hirsu (https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/education/staff/laviniahirsu/) has developed an international portfolio of projects that investigate contexts of flux and crisis. Her approach is interdisciplinary drawing upon rhetorical approaches, digital and computational literacies, as well as theories of cultural and linguistic diversity.
She has recently established a growing network entitled, Workers by self-design (https://workersbyselfdesign.wordpress.com/) that investigates the digital literacies and women’s changing roles in unstable environments.
David Jackson is a Research Assistant for the project.
He is a Third Sector professional based at a Glasgow NGO. He brings his experience of working with low-income families and working as part of NGO partnerships to the project.
Dr Keneilwe Molosi-France is a consultant for the project from the University of Botswana.
She is a senior lecturer in the department of Lifelong Learning and community development, University of Botswana. Her research interest areas are gender issues in lifelong learning and community development contexts, rural and community development, gender in community development, empowerment of indigenous minorities and indigenous knowledge systems. Dr Molosi- France is currently a Fulbright visiting scholar at Penn State University, USA.
